If you are interested in joining the UJ chapter committee for WCCS, please email Barend a short C.V. (especially pertaining to Chiropractic). Write a paragraph on why you want to join and what you will be bringing to the table. Interviews will be held in the 4 term of this year (2008) for aspiring committee members. Any queries please email Barend at -email-. Please try and get your C.V.'s in before the end of this week (Friday 5th of September)

Students who already served on the committee needn't have to resubmit their c.v.'s - a simple paragraph of accomplishments/tasks full filled in the WCCS committee will suffice

Students standing for various positions in SCAG eg. Social rep, Jnr Vice, Vice need to apply for this. As SCAG and WCCS are very much integrated.

Hi chiro friends!

So the annual SCAG golf day has come and gone. Lightning tried to spoil the day but in the end it was, pardon the pun, a thundering success. We would like to thank everybody, who put any effort at all into the day, from the bottom of our hearts. Whether you played, organised prizes or sponsors, helped out on the day or just had words of encouragement through the hard times - you know who you are!

Watch this space. With your help, next year is going to be even bigger and better...and of course a lot more fun!

I'm sure everyone is aware of the recent xenophobic attacks that has been occurring in our country. It has rendered a lot of people in dire need of basic items just to make it to the next day.

Dani Nelson, a 4th year chiro student, has taken some initiative by starting a campaign to collect items to be distributed to those in need. We need everyone to pitch in to help these people, so please take any and all donations to the clinic, where Dani will collect it and deliver it to the Randburg Methodist church. It will then be distributed from there.

If you wish to deliver it yourself, the designated delivery points for donations are:

1. Germiston City Hall
2. Randburg Methodist Church, cnr of Braam next to the Mnet buildings
3. Cleveland police station
4. Jeppe police station

The following items are desperately in need:

• nappies
• black bags
• oros
• first AID items - ANYTHING
• toys
• sanitary towels
• soap
• face clothes
• tooth paste
• tooth brush
• pilchards
• margarine
• purity
• bottles
• formula
• disinfectant
• washing up liquid
• pots

Volunteers are also needed at the venues during the mornings. Please see what you can do!

Congratulations on making it to the end of first term SCAG would like to wish those of you celebrating Easter a happy Easter, and to the rest, enjoy the break!

 To those of you who aren't aware yet, I'm heading over to finish my studies at Life Chiropractic College West in California. Just wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks and goodbye to all my Chiro mates. You're all the most amazing bunch of people who have given and shared a lot with me over the past 4 years. I can't believe how fast the time has gone, but at least we can say we never lost car rallies, and we always dressed as girls!

Please can you all keep in touch and let me know news and whatever's going down here at UJ. I'll definitely be coming back for visits and to see all my friends. Thanks again to everyone for everything - You're a special group of people whom I'm sad to say goodbye to. Good luck to all of you with your studies, research and lives post graduation. Everyone knows the story of Harvey Lillard and how his hearing was restored after he was adjusted by Dr. DD Palmer. This was in 1895 and since then doctors of chiropractic have witnessed these type of “miracles” at some time or another in their practices, but it is always heart-warming to hear another and to know that someone’s life has changed forever because of the power of the chiropractic adjustment.

This particular story recently made headlines in the Iowa papers, on radio shows and various news services on the internet. A young man who had been completely blind in one eye for more than 12 years, suddenly got his sight back after receiving a chiropractic adjustment. The headline in the KCRGTV News read, “Blind Man Suddenly Sees Again.”

In February of this year, our annual event of a weekend full of socialising, activities, and well…madness…occurred at RAU Island on the Vaal dam. For a little more insight, the annual Chiro camp is about socialising and meeting the first years, and for the first years to meet and socialise with everyone else. It was the first time that it took place on the island, and certainly won’t be the last. We hope.

It has taken some time, but finally SCAG has its own little place on the world wide web. The aim of this website is to assist Chiropractic students at the University of Johannesburg in their studies by providing a new means of communication & interaction, as well as to serve as a source of information and resources for our growing profession.

And by no means is this website limited to Chiropractic students alone. We envisage this site to eventually serve as an online marketing tool, promoting interaction between students, UJ alumni, practicing chiropractors and the public, thereby educating everyone about the wonders of Chiropractic.
