18 JUNE ,2008
Third Official Newsletter Hello again Chiropractic Students around the world! I can’t believe we are only 50 days away for our main event! It is incredible how fast time goes by. Registration is over. It is my pleasure to inform you that we have over 110 delegates registered from 22 schools for WCCS 2008! We will have the pleasure of having Cleveland College of Chiropractic LA for first time in many years with a 4 people delegation, and we are also having the favorite delegation of a lot of people back, which is obviously RMIT Japan, also with 4 new delegates! Please be sure to show them some chiro-hospitality. Here are some announcements that you should take into consideration.
Proposals Proposals have to be sent on time, according to the constitution. The deadline for receiving proposals is July 10th. NO EXCEPTIONS. The logos also have to be sent on this date. Robert’s Rules This is for old and new delegates. Remember that all the procedures that take place during Congress are under Robert’s Rules of order. Be sure you study them, so we can take more productive discussions. This is the version that I have and the one I recommend. But any version you can get could work. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Roberts-Rules-of-Order_W0QQitemZ150260781912QQihZ005QQcategoryZ378QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Head Delegates and Officers meeting The meeting will change a little bit this year, it will be before the opening ceremony. The date of the meeting is august 6th at 17:50, at “Salon Michoacano” in Geneve Hotel, so please be sure that you are there on time. If there is any head delegate or officer that will not be able to be on the meeting, please let me know. Opening Ceremony The opening ceremony will also be at Geneve Hotel in the “Restaurante Tradicional”, at 19:30. We will have very important people from UNEVE and Chiropractors in Mexico, so please be sure to be there on time. We will have a welcome cocktail and finger food for everyone. Arriving to Mexico City There is only one international airport in Mexico City, called “Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juarez”, which has 2 terminals. I am asking each head delegate to send me the number of the flight, flying company, and time of arrival to Mexico City. Thanks in advance J Staying in Mexico City We have arranged with the hotel to keep the special price they gave us for 2 days before, and 2 days after WCCS, so if anyone is planning to stay extra nights in Geneve Hotel, please contact me as soon as possible, so I can arrange your reservations. College Presentations We are trying to give everyone time for their College presentation, but we know sometimes time is something we can’t control, so unfortunately, some colleges will not have the chance to make the presentation. I will try to move up in the agenda the Colleges that have requested to make a presentation. These colleges are: Northwestern, Parker, and RMIT Japan. Cleveland College of Chiropractic LA will have a presentation in the last day of sessions. If you want your college presentation to be a priority, please send me an email and I will be more than glad to make it happen.
Speakers Here is a list of the confirmed speakers. Dr. Ismael Saenz Villa (Dean of UNEVE) Dr. Juan Sanchez (Director of Chiropractic Program in UNEVE) Dr. Enrique Benet Canut (President of “Colegio de Profesionistas Científico Quiroprácticos de México”)Dr. Maria Mercedes Montaño Benet (President of “Asociación Mexicana de Quiroprácticos”) Dr. Moisés Reznick (President of “Asociación Quiropráctica del Sureste”) Dr. Fabrizio Mancini (President of Parker College of Chiropractic and Parker Seminars) Dr. Gerald Clum (President of Life College of Chiropractic West) Dr. Vernon Temple (President of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners) Dr. Gilles Lamarche (Director of Parker Seminars) Dr. Joseph Sweere (Professor and Chairman of Occupational Health in Northwestern College of Chiropractic) Dr. Octavio Terrazas (Past President of “Asociación Mexicana de Quiropráctica Deportiva”) …and more
All the UNEVE’s chapter is working really hard so everyone can enjoy a truly mexican experience, in which we are sure you will have a great time. We are planning some surprises for everyone to have an incredible week. These are just a few things to take into consideration Weather Weather during august in Mexico is pretty template with temperatures between 12ºC and 25ºC. Mornings are usually sunny, but it’s raining season, so we expect to have mild raining almost everyday around 6 to 8 pm, be prepared. Taxis and General Security Please do not use any taxis that are not established, this is for your own safety. At the airport you will be able to find someone from UNEVE to tell you which taxi to get. In the hotel you can ask for a taxi in the reception, please do not take unnecessary risks. In the part of the city we are staying (Zona Rosa) is a very touristic and pretty secure area, but do not take silly risks. Just use your common sense. Do not use expensive jewelry, do not flash around cash, and try not to walk by yourself. We are planning most of the activities to be at a walking distance from the hotel, so we can save some money in transportation to use it in more important things… Food and Water Please do not drink tap water while you stay in Mexico, it is not drinkable. You will have access to bottled water all week. Also avoid eating at the streets; your digestive system may not be prepared for that kind of food. We don’t want anyone to get sick! I am planning to send the complete schedule in the following weeks, when everything is confirmed. Well, that is all I have to say at the moment, for any questions or suggestions you already have my contact details. Jaime Pinillos Montaño2008 WCCS Chairperson

1st WCCS 2008 Newsletter
Hello Chiropractic Students around the World, this is a summary of all the information that we have to date concerning the World Congress of Chiropractic Students in its 2008 edition! I would like to thank again all the UJ Chapter for making last year’s Congress such a success, it was one of the best experiences that I have experienced, and I’m still reallyimpressed with the flawless organization. Our primary goal this year is to keep WCCS growing every year, so we can finally have all the Chiropractic Colleges around the world represented in our Organization. It is our turn to show the world about what Mexico really is, please don’t be disappointed if you don’t see people in the streets traveling in “burros” or wearing giant “sombreros” drinking tequila. Date The official dates of next year’s Congress will be august 7th-12th, 2008, having the arrival of delegates on august the 6th for the opening ceremony, and the checking out for all delegates august 13th. We have been in contact with a travel agency, and we would be pleased to help you get the cheapest flight fares. If you need us to help you with this, just send an email to any of the UNEVE chapter and we will be very happy to help you. The dynamic of the Congress will be a little different this year. As you already probably know Mexico City is the second largest city in the world, and the most populated one (25 million people approximately), so we want you not to be stressed with everyday’s traffic, so the Congress meetings will be in the same hotel that will be receiving us. We will have again the “U” shaped format for the Congress, and some places in the back for viewing area. AccomodationsHotel Geneve Londres 130 Colonia Juárez C.P. 06600 Ciudad de México Tel: +52 55 50 800 800
Next year’s conference and accommodations will be at the Geneve Hotel. This hotel celebrated their centenary this year, and was just remodelated. Hotel Geneve is really famous for its european architecture and the privileged location in the heart of Mexico City. The hotel is located in the zone called “Zona Rosa”, probably the most touristic area of the city, famous for its great night life. You will find just outside the hotel the famous Hamburgo and Londres streets, which are only walking streets with many stores, bars, and restaurants. You will be able to walk around the outsides of the hotel in your free time, but PLEASE, although it is a very touristic and secure area, don’t expose yourself by walking alone, or being flashy. Just use your common sense. The hotel counts with great services for all of you incluiding wireless internet, gym, conference areas, room service, cable TV, business areas, bar, spa, and many more. If you want to see the webpage for some extra information, or to see the installations, here it is: http://www.hotelgeneve.com.mx/ Tip – Click in the upper right corner of the page in the US flag for the English version of the page. Delegate Fee I know that some delegations are already fundraising, which I think is wonderful. Way to go! We will post all the costs in American Dollars, to make it easier for everyone. The exchange rate is approximately 10.5 mexican pesos for 1 american dollar. All your meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and the hotel expenses will be covered by the delegate fee, which we tried really hard not to raise compared to last year’s. We still don’t have a banking account, or the registration dates (We have to check with the hotel), but as soon as we have them, I will let you know. Early individual delegate fee US$700 Late individual delegate fee US$800 Early individual College fee US$650 Late individual College fee US$750 Teotihuacan Pyramids, and UNEVE day As it is becoming a tradition in the Congress, we will have a “free” day on Sunday 10th. You will have the chance to know the worldwide known pyramids of the Sun and the Moon located in Teotihuacan. If you want to start researching a little bit in the misteries envolved in this archeological area, I suggest that you visit these pages. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teotihuac%C3 A1n http://www.arsvirtual.com/p_latinoamericano/visitas_virtuales/teotihuacan/teotihuacan_ac/inicio.htm http://www.tourbymexico.com/edomex/teotihua/teotihua.htm
After the Teotihuacán experience, you will be transported to UNEVE, where you will be able to know the school and have lunch, and also will have the chance to meet the mexican students. When the tour is finished, we will have one or two speakers in the University, where not only WCCS will be invited, but all the Mexican students as well. The speakers we have in mind are some of the best in the Chiropractic world, so you won’t be disappointed. Finally, at the end of the “free day”, UNEVE will have the honor to throw a Mexican party with all the students from UNEVE! I promise that you will not be disappointed. Webpage We are trying to have the webpage ready for the beginning of next year. Be patient, please If you have any doubt about anything, please contact me, I will be happy to answer all of your doubts.
